Terms of use

Plain rules for using ChemServer. By creating an account or running a job you agree to them. Last updated 06-11-2026.

Who may use ChemServer

ChemServer is meant for students, teachers and researchers doing computational chemistry for study, research and drug discovery work. You must give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

Acceptable use

  • Do not break the law or upload files you have no right to use.
  • Do not try to get into other accounts, the server or the compute servers, and do not scan or attack them.
  • Do not overload the service, for example with automated sign ups or floods of jobs.
  • Do not use ChemServer to design or make harmful substances or weapons.
  • Respect the run limits that apply to your account. Email us if you need more.

We may block an account that breaks these rules.

Your files and results

Your files and results belong to you. You allow ChemServer to store and process them only to run your jobs and to show them to you. See the privacy policy for how long they are kept.

Scientific results

Docking scores, simulations and calculations are computer predictions. They can be wrong, and they need experimental confirmation. ChemServer gives no medical, clinical or safety advice and its results must not be used to make decisions about the treatment of people or animals.

Free service and no warranty

ChemServer is provided free and as it is. We work to keep it running, but we do not promise that it is always available, that runs always finish or that files are never lost. Please download results you need and keep your own copies of important files. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using or not being able to use the service.

Software and citation

The programs behind ChemServer are open source or free for academic use and keep their own licences. When you publish results, cite the programs your run used. How to cite your results lists them.

Changes and ending

We may change features and limits, and we may change these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. You can stop using ChemServer at any time and ask us to delete your account. Questions go to chris@chemserver.online.
